On
November 18th, 2007 in the Quincy Marriott, Jacqueline
Bruno’s dreams came
true when she was crowned Miss Massachusetts USA
2008. The 23 year-old Freetown native calls winning
the title “an opportunity of a lifetime of
which I will take full advantage.” The 5’10
brunette beauty is also a scholar. In 2006, she
graduated cum laude from Boston University where
she earned her BS in Broadcast Journalism with
a minor in Political Science. She is currently
the host of New England TV at NewEngland.com and
a model with Dynasty Models.
Bruno’s
trip to Miss USA will not be her first experience
at
a national pageant. Jacqueline
won the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA
in 2003 and received 3rd Runner-Up at Miss Teen
USA
2003. Jacqueline also traveled to Miss USA that
same year to watch Miss Massachusetts USA 2003,
Susie Castillo, win the title of Miss USA. Jacqueline
went to Panama the following month to root for
Susie at Miss Universe where Susie made the top
fifteen. “I was a part of a superstar year
for Massachusetts in 2003. I hope we can have
another stellar year in 2008.”
During
her free time, Jacqueline loves to knit, write,
read,
and spend time with her little sister
from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization
of which she has been involved with for over
a year. She also writes weekly and sends care
packages
monthly to a female soldier in Iraq through
a program called “Soldiers’ Angels.” At
age 19, Jacqueline was the public relations
director for a campaign to elect a local State
Representative.
Her hard work and outstanding writing skills
helped ensure the candidate’s victory
over an incumbent. Her extensive resume includes
prior
experience
at Fun 107, Mix 98-5, WBOS, New England Cable
News, the former WB-56 (CW 56), and The Standard
Times.
Over
her year as Miss Massachusetts USA 2008, Jacqueline
will work with the official
cause
of Miss USA,
which includes breast and ovarian cancer
education, research, and legislation. Jacqueline
will
represent Massachusetts in the nationally
televised Miss
USA pageant in the spring on NBC.
